CTBE: Target Group

  • This course is designed for teachers who are already TEFL/TESOL qualified.
  • The course content is aimed at English language teachers who intend to specialise in teaching business related English at some stage during their teaching career.
  • No previous training or experience in any form of business education is necessary to enrol on this course.

CTBE: Structure

  • The course contains 50 hours of study and is divided into five modules that cover a variety of theoretical and practical areas of teaching business related English.
  • Module 1 looks at the roles of the teacher and the learner in the classroom. This section also explores the differences between teaching groups and individuals, various teaching methodologies and the language skills that your students will need to learn.
  • Module 2 focuses on course construction. This module looks at all aspects of a language course including language level testing, assessing your student’s needs and how to design a suitable syllabus. We also explore different assessment strategies, student examinations and course evaluation.
  • Module 3 covers business related materials and resources. This section looks at sourcing, creating and using different types of material, as well as course books, the internet and the use of lesson plans.
  • Module 4 focuses on the wide variety of themes you can use in the classroom such as frameworking, case studies and problem based learning. We also look at how to use these themes to create an effective lesson plan.
  • Module 5 explores areas of professional and personal development. In this module we look at business etiquette, CV/resume design and job application issues.
